Pest description and crop damage: Pests are not insects but tiny eight-legged animals less than 0.03 inch long. Only heavy infestations justify control in clover seed fields.
Management – chemical control
1. propargite at 1.6 to 2.45 lb ai/ac (comite at 2 to 3 pt/ac). Do not feed treated clover foliage, trash, or seed screenings to livestock. Do not graze treated fields. Processed seed must be labeled Not for human or animal consumption. 24c SLN ID-770005, WA-770012, OR-770013.
2. bifenthrin at 0.06 to 0.1 lb ai/ac (Captue 2 EC at 3.8 to 6.4 oz/ac). Do not apply while bees are present. Do not make more than three applications in a crop year. Maintain at least 21 days between treatments. Do not graze clover after application. Do not cut treated clover for hay or for forage.
