Section 18 Labels

Lentils (Seed Treatment)

Ascochyta Blight

Valid until June 1, 2007. Treated seed must be labeled, “This seed treated with thiabendazole at the manufacturer’s recommended rate. Do not use for food, feed or oil purposes.” Do not graze or feed livestock on treated fields for 4 weeks after planting. This pesticide is toxic to fish: do not apply directly to water; do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment wash waters. Treated seed may be toxic to birds and other wildlife; clean up any spilled seed immediately.

Mertect 340-F Fungicide (thiabendazole). EPA File Symbol # 07-ID-01

Fire Blight

Valid until August 1, 2007. For use on a maximum of 1,500 acres and only in the following Idaho counties: Canyon, Gem, Payette, Owyhee and Washington. A maximum of 5 applications can be made per acre per year, with 3 allowed during bloom, and 2 post bloom if other highly susceptible tissues are damaged during the growing season. Apply with Ground Equipment ONLY; no application should be made through any type of irrigation system. Do not harvest until at least 60 days after application. Workers should not enter treated area until at least 12 hours after application. Use of predictive models for fireblight (e.g., Cougarblight 200F)is recommended before spraying.

 

Warrior (lambda-cyhalothrin). EPA File Symbol # 07-ID-04

Barley

Russian Wheat Aphid, Cereal Leaf Beetle, Armyworms, Cutworms

Valid May 1 – August 15, 2007. Do not harvest until at least 30 days after application. Apply as required by scouting; timing and frequency of applications should be based on insect populations. A maximum of 0.6 lb active ingredient per acre and a maximum of two applications per acre per season are allowed. Can be tank-mixed with Axial Herbicide (EPA Reg. No. 100-1199); use according to label instructions. Due to its toxicity of aquatic organisms, this product cannot be applied by ground within 25 feet, or by air within 150 feet of lakes, rivers, reservoirs, permanent streams, marshes, natural ponds, commercial fish farms, springs or any other water body.

Beehives

Varroa mites

Valid until February 28, 2008. Effective control may be achieved by treating hives in the spring or fall prior to or after honey flow; not to be applied during periods of honey flow. Remove or destroy weak and queenless colonies prior to application. Treat all hives within each bee yard or apiary at the same time. Do not treat more than twice a year for Varroa mite control.

Carzol SP (formetanate hydrochloride).

Dry Bulb Onions

Thrips

NEW PLANT-BACK RESTRICTIONS. This is not a label for the use of Carzol on onions, but rather an amendment to the plant-back restrictions for fields that were treated with Carzol in 2006. The amended plant-back restrictions are as follows:

·         No restrictions for onions

·         No restrictions for non-food crops grown for seed

·         No restrictions for livestock feed crops

·         30 day plant-back restriction for leafy vegetables

·         120 day plant-back restriction for cereal crops

·         120 day plant-back restriction for root and tuber crops

·         120 plant-back restriction for all other crops
